More Investment Coming to Punta Cana - W Hotels coming in 2025

Updated: Feb 24, 2023

Marriott International is planning its next expansion, this time in the Dominican Republic! According to news sources, the world-famous W Hotel is coming to Punta Cana in 2025. The expansion comes after a flurry of investments in the all-inclusive sector within the tourism industry.

This hotel will be built in the Uvero Alto area of Punta Cana, which is the region's high-end resort area. It will have 349 rooms with balconies and plunge pools. It will have a spa with 11 rooms, a retail area, three pool bars around the three pool areas, and eleven food/beverage areas. GThis hotel will have adult-focused programming which will be perfect for a vacation in the country.

Laurent de Kausemaeker, Chief Development Officer, Caribbean, and Latin America, Marriott International says “Punta Cana is the perfect destination for both the W Hotels brand and an all-inclusive luxury resort”.

Having Grupo Puntacana on this deal is crutial as they are the main development leaders for Punta Cana. They have lead the work for more than 40,000 hotel rooms in the area which equates to 6.8% of the Dominican Republics GDP in the tourism sector. La Altagracia Province (where Punta Cana is located) has hence become the province with the highest per capita income in the country. According to the President of Group Punta Cana, Frank Elias Rainieri, this project is set to elevate the premium hotel supply in the region and is set to generate about 600 jobs.

Overall having an elite hotel such as the W in the region really speaks to the investment happening not only in the country but specifically in Punta Cana. This announcement comes after another premium hotel brand also investing in the region, Nobu Hotels. Happy Living Punta Cana will keep you posted as these hotels open up and become destination for your vacation!
