Punta Cana Expansion: Katmandu Theme Park Coming Soon!


Katmandu is a brand new theme park that will open in Punta Cana on March 15th. The park was created in conjunction with the Melia Hotels International and Falcon’s Beyond development company. This park and resort combo is coining the term “resortainment”, combining resort vacationing with entertainment. It will become a family-friendly destination with dining, retail and entertainment all in one location.


According to coverage from Travel + Leisure, “Katmandu Park Punta Cana will deliver an unprecedented theme park experience based on the popular characters of our very own Katmandu fantastical universe,” Cecil D. Magpuri, CEO of Falcon’s Beyond, said in a statement shared with T+L.


Below are the parks attractions and what to expect:


Voyage of the Fathom Wanderer: this attraction is meant to be the world’s first suspended theater attraction that lifts people through the air from one screen to the other.

  1. Height Requirement: 42 inches/110 cm/3 ft 5 inches; Supervisor Required for guests under 48inches/120cm/4ft tall




Challenge of the Mad Mage: this is a 4-D theater attraction that is customizable by guests over the course of the ride.


Height Requirement: 45 inches/115 cm/3 ft 7 inches; Supervisor Required for guests under 48inches/120cm/4ft tall





Legend of the Desirata: This ride is a 4-D dark attraction that tells guests about the origin story for Katmandu and has multiple projection screens, immersive audio, lightning and wind effects.


Height Requirement: 42 inches/110 cm/3 ft 5 inches; Supervisor Required for guests under 48inches/120cm/4ft tall




EtherQuest: This is a walk through attraction with an interactive element that allows guests to feel like they are part of the story.


Supervisor Required for guests under 36inches/92cm/3ft tall








Other attractions include a 36-hole mini golf course and an outdoor ropes course. There are also indoor rock climbing activities within The Quadagon.


The park will open to guests of Falcon’s Resort by Melia before it fully opens to guests. This is the first park open outside of the original park in Mallorca. In the future, they plan to expand to have locations in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Playa del Carmen, Mexico and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. They will feature cashless payments and will facilitate entrance with smart wristbands for guests to carry all of their passes.

Hours: Thurs 10am - 6pm, Friday and Saturday 10am - 1am

1-Day Pass:

The 1-Day Pass allows guests flexibility if they want to check out the park during multiple days. Each attraction can only be experienced one time.


Adults (Age 12+): $120

Children (Under 12): $85

  • Adult ticket Not Included: Maiya and Kumar's Secret Ice Cave and Giant Swing attractions.

  • Child ticket: Choose between Maiya and Kumar's Secret Ice Cave. Giant Swing attraction not included

VIP Pass:

The VIP Pass has a bit more to offer. It also includes access to each attraction one time but also includes credits for use in the park, an extra 18 holes of mini golf, VIP parking and a complimentary free locker for use.
