Punta Cana PGA Tour 2022

Updated: Feb 24, 2023

The Corales Puntacana Championship was the premier golf event to be at this past March. Held at the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club, its location was nothing short of spectacular. This was the 4th edition of this competition held in the country and held at this resort.

After days of fierce competition, Chad Ramey took out the winning title. A 29 year old from Mississippi, this would become his first PGA tour title. Chad took home the prize of US$666,000 of a prize pool of US$3.7 million, which is recorded as the highest in the history of sports in the Dominican Republic.

As happy as we are for Ramey, we can’t help but be jealous of the location he was privileged to play at. The course is situated along the natural cliffs, bays and sea as well as the coraline quarries and picturesque lakes. The Corales Puntacana Resort & Golf Club has an 18-hole course which features six Caribbean Oceanside holes, with the last three holes placed along the cliff line Bay of Corales.

Although a great achievement for the global golfing community, this event has also proceeded to develop a strong connection with the community of Punta Cana. “Through the Corales Puntacana Championship we can continue, for four more years, promoting the best of the Dominican Republic and Punta Cana as one of the leading golf tourist destinations in the Caribbean. This alliance has helped us to develop our dream of empowering and growing with communities through our social and environmental programs,” said Frank Elías Rainieri, president and CEO of Grupo Puntacana.

Resulting in such a success, the Puntacana Resort & Club and The PGA TOUR have confirmed the four year extension of the Corales Puntacana Championship. “We look forward to many more years of great competition and showcasing the beauty of the Dominican Republic to our fans around the world,” said Tyler Dennis, PGA TOUR President and Executive Vice President.
